Can any one help me to find a good camping in France. I have recently bought a trailer
tent and would like to go to france camping in july/aug. I am from the
London and would like to know how to go about it, ie routes camp sites
prices including ferries, best places to go with two young children. We would like to stop at 3 or 4
sites. Can some also tell me can you just go on spec or would I have to
prebook.

You can buy inclusive packages, try to get your hands on a brochure.
Two companies spring to mind, Eurocamp Independent and Carefree.
Carefree belongs to the Camping and Caravaning Club so you may need to
become a member. This is not a bad idea if you are new to camping.
I am new to camping and found being a member of the Camping and
Caravaning Club quite useful, We have booked a holiday through
Carefree and will be visiting Luxembourg, Switzerland and Italy.
We have already had a dummy run to Norfolk though, just to try things
out first.
If you don't know how to start planning routes, try one of the route
planning software programs. A colleague of mine has AutoRoute Express
and he worked out my routes for me.
Though route planning and navigating in France is quite easy, you just
need a list of the major towns that you will be traveling through (or
round), then just follow the road signs.
As for ferry crossings it is a combination of personal choice and
where you are going. We live in Sheffield so we have a similar
distance to the channel ports; i.e. Dover and Portsmouth are both
about 250 miles. If you just want a short crossing then go
Dover/Calais or even the tunnel. If you are traveling to the West of
France it might be worth considering one of the longer crossings,
Poole/Cherbourg is quite a good one and is only about 4 1/2 hours.

e did this last year and would suggest you book - it's peak season. Avail
yourself of a copy of the Alan Rogers Guide to Camping in France - published
by Haynes. List recommended sites and full facilities - sites cannot buy'
their way into this guide - bit like 'Which' Reports.
Re: the crossing, you can subscribe to a company called 'Driveline' - about
£10 per annum and they will sort you out a crossing undercutting all other
fares available - subject to availablilty.
We went to La Garangeoire in the Vendee, 2 weeks, fantastic time, children
loved every minute of it.
If you need any more advice i'll be happy to help.
